Airports in Italy

Rome, Italy has two airports, one is the Leonardo da Vinci Airport and the Rome Ciampino Airport. The Rome Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino Airport (in Italian it is the Aero Porto Leonardo da Vinci di Fiumicino) which is also called the Rome-Fiumicino International Airport.

The Rome Italy airport is the larges airport in Italy and the second largest gateway of all the international airports. They served over 30,000,000 passengers in 2006.

This aiport is in Fiumicino, which is 34 km away from the historic center of Rome. It is the hub for Alitalia, the Italian flag carrier as well as Milan-Malpensa International Airport.

With Naples being such a popular tourist and business destination, the city needs to be easily reached by plane. They need to have a lot of flights and connections from all over the world.

The Naples Italy Airport is called the Naples International Airport (Capodichino Airport), and also the main airport in southern Italy. This airport is also the third largest of all the airports in Italy. The Naples airport is 4 miles / 7 km from he Naples city center.

The Florence, Italy airport is located near the city of Florence. This is called Peretola Airport, Florence Airport (In Italian; Aero Porto di Firenze) or the Amerigo Vespucci Airport). There are two airports to service the Tuscany region, with the other airport is the Galileo Galilei Airport in Pisa.

The airport in Florence is a little airport with only a single lane runway. The taxiway is on the end of the 05 runway , that has a holding/overshoot area that is on the end of 23 runway. The plane will land, turns around at the end, then taxis back down the runway reaching the parking and terminal areas.

Whether you want to fly into Rome, Naples or Florence, you will be able to get to each city by plane, making your trip more convenient without all the plane changes. You will be close to the some wonderful hotels surrounding the airports in Italy and be able to see the beautiful cities as soon as you arrive.
